The first elephant camp was in Chiangmai and was really fun here’s some examples of things I did
1. I played with a 1 month old baby elephant who was called Suki you might think the elephant would just stay under her mom, but no she was very playful! She liked to chase you rub against you and wrestle you. She was very fun and my favorite elephant!
2. We went on a trip with the elephants and had to climb all around the area with the elephants. The elephants were much faster than you think, you would think that with how much it ways it would be really slow but accally it is quite fast. Also a fun fact is they run faster when they see water. I think,I think I don’t know if it is true but it seems like it is when they were with me.
3. In the middle of the walk with the elephants on no2 me and my group stopped at a place were they eat you can either say bon to open their mouth and put the food in there mouth or put it on the grab part at the end of their trunks and the two pieces of trunk they use to pick up stuff with.
4. Once we had Finished doing our walk and feeding the elephants we went down to the river( where we ended the walk) then went back to our camp and got into our swimming trunks for the next thing we did with the elephants. After we were changed we went down to the stream and the thing we did in it was give the elephants a massage using Walter and sand by rubbing in the sand onto the elephants body!
The place itself (Chai Lai Orchid) had lots of houses( which was very nice ) it had Miskito nets around the beds which was helpful for the Miskitos not to bite me. The downside was that the elephants where in chains, one elephant ( which was my dads friend ) was chained up right in front of food so my dad gave her some food. Another elephant was a male ( the only) and had killed his last trainer the way they chained him up was the old trainer realized that something was wrong because the elephant didn’t listen to his commands and chained him up by two legs . Now no one goes near him!
not all elephants do this 👆🏼but this one was trained to it.🐘When they do this 👆🏼(open the mouth fully) you can trough a banana 🍌 into there mouth
The second 🐘 elephant camp we visited in Chiangmai (Elephant Valley project) and it was much different to the other elephant camp because you would stand very far away from the elephants because they were training them to not like hunters or trappers or normal people ,then they set it to the wild. We saw them shower, we fed them a small amount of bananas and watched them live their normal life.
I would recommend find a place where they don’t ride the elephants and don’t chain them:
